Article on Research: Manhattan

Upper class people in Coimbatore are ready to spend upto Rs. 50 Lakhs within the next couple of years in the real estate market.

Manhattan was a project carried out by Kaybase in and around Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) among SEC A1 and A2 to understand their intention to invest in a premium apartment / house and their expectations from a builder

The study was carried out among men in the age group of 28 to 30 years, especially those earning more than Rs. 30,000/- per month (in reality, it will be slightly higher as people understate their income when it comes to surveys).

The study results say that 65% of the sample is planning to buy a house in the next two years and 10% of them have bought a house very recently. Those who are planning to buy are prepared to spend from Rs. 30-50 Lakhs for their purchase.

The interesting part is that only 40% of them are prepared to look at a professional builder / the organised sector of the construction industry, while the balance is looking at the unorganised sector. Respondents seem to expect quite a bit from a construction company, but the two most important factors that drive preference are: Ethics of the company and timely delivery.
